🎯 Learning objectives
After completing this lesson, the child should be able to:
- See multiplication as equal groups
- Skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s
- Use the flip trick (3 × 2 = 2 × 3)
Multiplication is speedy addition. Today we make it visible with apple rows.
Groups of apples
3 boxes × 2 apples each:

Three groups of two makes six: 3 × 2 = 6
Skip counting is the engine
2, 4, 6, 8, 10 — that is multiplying by 2! 5, 10, 15, 20 — that is multiplying by 5!
The flip trick
4 × 3 and 3 × 4 give the same answer. Turn the apple rows sideways and count again — same total!
