Meet the decimal point

Instead of writing 1/2, we can write 0.5. The little dot is the decimal point โ€” everything after it is smaller than one whole.

Place value after the point

In 3.75: the 3 means 3 whole ones, the 7 means 7 tenths, the 5 means 5 hundredths.

Fractions and decimals are twins
